Podesta: Possible That ‘Forces Within the FBI’ That ‘Wanted’ Clinton ‘To Lose’

During an interview with John Heilemann at the NewCo Shift Forum on Monday, Clinton Campaign Chair John Podesta floated the possibility that there were “forces within the FBI” that wanted Clinton to lose.

While contrasting how the FBI handled Russian hacking of his email with how they handled Clinton’s emails, Podesta stated, “I think there’s sorta two possibilities: There are at least forces within the FBI that wanted her to lose. I’m not sure they were prepared to — they really understood the alternative, but they wanted her to lose. I think that’s one possibility. I think the other is this has become a cover your a** organization, and there was pressure coming up from underneath him [FBI Director James Comey], and he succumbed to that pressure. But he made a bad judgement.”
