Ash Carter: I ‘Did Not Support’ Direction Obama Went With Manning Commutation, ‘Not My Recommendation’

During an interview broadcast on Thursday’s broadcast of CNN’s “New Day,” Defense Secretary Ash Carter stated that he “did not support” the commutation of Chelsea Manning, and it was “not my recommendation.”

Carter said, “I did not support the direction the president went, but he’s made his decision. That’s all I’m going to say. That was not my recommendation.”
