During Tuesday’s “The O’Reilly Factor” on the Fox News Channel, ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith addressed the “level of disgust” in the black community recently after some leaders have met with President-elect Donald Trump.
The “First Take” host slammed those who have “castigated” black leaders just for meeting with Trump, especially when they are trying “to improve the community.”
Smith told host Bill O’Reilly, “There’s a level of disgust when you see African-Americans go and see Donald Trump and then they come out and they say, Jim Brown, ‘I’m in love the man.’ Steve Harvey, ‘I love the man.’ They love what they’re hearing from him, but what you have is still a residue of individuals that watched Donald Trump during the election and just were put off by the [rhetoric].”
“I don’t think any of us who meet with the president-elect, soon to be president, should be castigated just for meeting with the man and talking to the man about things to improve our community,” he later added.
