On Wednesday’s broadcast of “The Five,” Fox News Channel host Greg Gutfeld stated that BuzzFeed’s story on a dossier about President-Elect Donald Trump was a left-wing fake story, “If you live by conspiracy theories, you’re going to die by them. We found out that [Senator] Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) dad helped kill JFK. Obama’s birth certificate isn’t real. So, if you go — if you chase conspiracy theories, sooner or later, a conspiracy theory might chase you.”
Gutfeld said [relevant remarks begin around 2:45] that BuzzFeed did Trump a favor by running with an “unverifiable” story, some of which was “absurd” and now the story is how “rotten” and “stupid” BuzzFeed is.
He later added, “If you live by conspiracy theories, you’re going to die by them. We found out that Ted Cruz’s dad helped kill JFK. Obama’s birth certificate isn’t real. So, if you go — if you chase conspiracy theories, sooner or later, a conspiracy theory might chase you. I think it would be great if both sides…just reject all of these.”
Gutfeld further argued that conspiracy theories are “now called fake news.” And that Pizzagate was an example of a fake story from the right, and “now this is from the left, or anti-Trumpers.”
