On Saturday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “AM Joy,” Senate Minority Leader Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) accused FBI James Comey of withholding information regarding Russian interference in the 2016 election from the American people, and said Comey is the “new J. Edgar Hoover,” “let the country down for partisan purposes.” And that Comey should resign and “be investigated by the Senate.”
Reid said, “I did not believe that that Comey was the new J. Edgar Hoover. I thought that he would do the right thing for the country. This is clear, you’ve been — we’ve all read the press the last few days, the FBI had this material for a long time, but they — he, Comey, who’s, of course, a Republican, refused to divulge this information regarding Russia and the presidential election. He violated the orders of the attorney general, the president, and good taste, by getting involved in the election like that, but he would not let well enough alone. He couldn’t do enough to help.”
He added, “I am so disappointed in Comey. He has let the country down for partisan purposes.”
Reid further stated that Comey helped Trump win, should resign, and “should be investigated by the Senate. I think he should be investigated by other agencies of the government, including the security agencies, because if there were ever a matter of security, it’s this.”
