Former NFL star and former ESPN analyst Cris Carter discussed Monday on Fox Sports 1’s “Speak for Yourself” the NFL national anthem protests that were started by 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
Carter sympathized with the athletes’ frustrations, but he urged them to find another place to protest that is not their job.
“I can understand them wanting to get involved. I can understand young people and their frustration with police. To me, you don’t take the stand — you don’t take the NFL and you don’t use their logo and utilize their platform. You figure out some other type of way. It’s just like your job. You can’t do anything on this job from a political standpoint. You have to be careful,” he told co-host Jason Whitlock.
Carter also partly blamed the NFL for not telling people they could not protest, saying it encouraged more athletes to participate.
