Thursday, Fox Sports 1 “Undisputed” co-host Skip Bayless reacted to the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series, suggesting “a segment of Cubs fans” did not want the team to actually win the World Series because doing so “forever destroys their sympathy card.”
“I believe there is a segment of Cub fans, maybe a pretty large one, that didn’t actually deep down want to win the World Series because it forever destroys their sympathy card they have been able to play their whole lives.” Bayless said.
“Their premise was that they were united in misery, ‘Oh woe are we. We can cry in our beer every year, we can commiserate – wait until next year,'” he added. “Now, all that is over. It ended last night. You can’t cry in your beer anymore. You’re the world champion.”
