Wednesday on ABC’s ” The View,” co-host Joy Behar told Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway that she was “delusional.”
Partial transcript as follows:
BEHAR: We are back with Kellyanne Conway. Here’s what I want to ask you. When I was 12 years old, they made us go under the desk and hide because a nuclear bomb was about to hit. And I never brought my library books back because I thought we’re going to die anyway, what’s the point? So your guy, Donald Trump, he’s very cavalier about using nuclear weapons.
CONWAY: No, he’s not.
BEHAR: Even Europe is not off the table. Aren’t you petrified? You have four children. That scares me more than any other stupid thing he has said.
CONWAY: I’m concerned for everyone’s children and I will just say this to you. it’s Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton who gave the—they’re president and secretary of state. They did this Iran nuclear deal.
BEHAR: You’re not answering the question.
CONWAY: Here’s how I’ll answer the question. Donald Trump —
BEHAR: Wait a second. A lot of people believe that that will prevent nuclear war for ten years, okay? But that’s not my question. My question is his rhetoric is off the wall on this topic.
CONWAY: It’s not actually.
BEHAR: Yes, it is.
CONWAY: No, it’s not.
BEHAR: And words mean a lot.
CONWAY: Words do matter.
BEHAR: I have a grandson. I want to see him get old.
CONWAY: Words do matter and you should check out Hillary Clinton’s words.
BEHAR: Again with the Hillary Clinton.
CONWAY: Okay, we’ll talk about Donald Trump.
BEHAR: Stick to Trump—the nuclear thing, he doesn’t mean it—what?
CONWAY: Here’s what I think. He will not give as president of the United States and commander-in-chief, he will not strike a deal with Iran that gives nuclear capability.
BEHAR: But is it reckless or not? Is his rhetoric reckless?
CONWAY: No.
BEHAR: When he says, maybe we could use —
CONWAY: You’re cherry picking comments.
BEHAR: What kind of talk is that?
CONWAY: He doesn’t mean that he’s going to go and use them. First of all, this nation has many people —
BEHAR: You know, I like you.
CONWAY: Thank you, I like you too.
BEHAR: Right here I think you’re being delusional.
CONWAY: No, I’m not. I’m not being delusional.
BEHAR: And I like you a lot. She’s the nicest girl. This is a nice Italian girl, but she scares me when she thinks that.
