Friday on Fox News Channel’s “The O’Reilly Factor,” Bill O’Reilly appeared as a guest on his on show, which was being guest hosted by Eric Bolling, to weigh in on the recent developments involving the FBI reopening its investigation into Clinton’s email server.
O’Reilly argued this should been taken to a grand jury, but now it looms over the Clinton campaign and could even further dampen enthusiasm for Clinton.
“Well it was quite apparent you have a series of events and it is circumstantial — so much circumstantial that Comey did not want to make this indictment,” O’Reilly said. “But the big smoking gun is that Comey did not call for a grand jury. I have spoken with dozens of FBI agents to a man who have said that is highly unusual in a complicated case like this. So now what you have is — you have a political portion of this today and you have a legal portion. Let’s take the politics first, Eric.
“If you look at the new Fox News poll, the enthusiasm deficit between Trump and Clinton is about 8 percent, 7 percent,” he continued. “That means 7 percent of Trump supporters are more enthusiastic to vote than Hillary Clinton. Keep that in mind. Anything like this erodes enthusiasm for Hillary Clinton. Hardcore people are still going to vote for her. We’re talking independents and Democrats who don’t particularly like her. So that enthusiasm drops and what happens then? Lower turnout. So that’s what happened today politically. So seizes upon this. If he doesn’t blow it in the next 10 days, which he could — his message should be that she’s corrupt and, if you elect her, she could be indicted while she’s president because the situation is fluid.”
O’Reilly speculated some of the emails between Clinton and top aide Huma Abedin may have been passed on to former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY), who is being investigated separately for sexting an underage female, and those were recovered by the FBI. He also suggested there was nearly a “mutiny” in the FBI over agency director James Comey’s handing of the email server investigation.
While O’Reilly said he isn’t sure if Clinton will face legal problems over this new development in the investigation, it is “devastating” for Clinton’s election effort.
“This new stuff is enough to reopen the investigation, which is devastating to the Clinton campaign,” he added.
