On Friday’s broadcast of PBS’ “Washington Week,” Washington Post Political Correspondent Anne Gearan stated a memo released by WikiLeaks shows tangled lines between the Clinton Foundation, Clinton Global Initiative, and Doug Band’s consultancy that is “exactly what people thought in some way was happening with all of these overlapping business and charitable entities.” And “confirmatory for what a lot of people thought, that there’s just a lot of overlap and the potential for conflict of interest as a result.”
Gearan said, “[T]here’s the Clinton Foundation, there’s the Clinton Global Initiative charitable operation, and then there’s this consultancy that Doug Band and another guy had started. And they all had a lot of interconnecting lines. I mean, I couldn’t even draw it for you, right? They share donors, they share clients, they share all the same people. … This is exactly what people thought in some way was happening with all of these overlapping business and charitable entities. And even though he’s trying to explain that — explain it away, it actually ends up being confirmatory for what a lot of people thought, that there’s just a lot of overlap and the potential for conflict of interest as a result.”
