During Sunday’s broadcast of the Colorado Rockies-Los Angeles Dodgers game, announcer Vin Scully honored Miami Marlins star Jose Fernandez, who was killed in a boating accident early Sunday morning at the age of 24.
“Talking about the late Jose Fernandez. It’s rather an ironic note. He sent a tweet, believe it or not, back in 2015 September the first. He probably, and I’m only guessing, probably had read this somewhere. Throw back to second. Close but no cigar. Anyway, young Jose a year ago wrote the following, ‘If you were given a book with the story of your life would you read the end?’ He was 23 then and already thinking some pretty deep thoughts,” Scully said.
