During an interview broadcast on Wednesday’s “OutFront” on CNN, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi stated that “Islamic rhetoric” must be corrected, and we should use the term “Islamic extremism” because “It is really important that we state the truth, so that we could correct it.”

El-Sisi responded to a question on whether using the term “radical Islamic terror” was fair by saying, according to the translation of his comments, “Yes, it is extremism. It’s truly extremism, Islamic extremism, which is something that we must confront, and we must correct the Islamic rhetoric. I’m a Muslim man, and it’s very very hard on me to say what I’m saying, but this is the truth. It is really important that we state the truth, so that we could correct it.”
