CNN’s Tapper Presses Kaine on Former Clinton Aide Peddling Birther Rumors in 2008

Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” host Jake Tapper questioned Democratic vice-presidential nominee Sen. Tim Kaine about former McClatchy Washington, DC bureau chief James Asher tweeting that Sidney Blumenthal, a former aide to President Bill Clinton and long-time adviser to Hillary Clinton had told him “in person” that Obama was born in Kenya in 2008.

Kaine said, “Sidney Blumenthal has categorically denied that. But Sidney’s not running for president. Let’s talk about Donald Trump. He started to push this notion in 2011 and has been pushing it for five years.”
