Stephen A. Smith: I Hope Athletes Are Just as Willing to Bring Attention to Black-on-Black Violence as Police Violence

Monday, ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith said on “First Take,” while discussing San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s decision to sit during the national anthem, that he hopes athletes and media are just as willing to bring attention to black-on-black violence as they have police brutality.

“If there is any problem that I have with this is that just as you are willing to bring attention to brutality on the part of police officers, I hope that all of these athletes, all of us in the media and beyond are willing to bring just as much attention to black-on-black violence,” Smith pointed out.
