Heilemann: Despite Asking ‘Multiple’ Times Over a Year, I Still Don’t Know How Clinton Judged Which Emails Were Work-Related

On Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Bloomberg Politics Managing Editor John Heilemann stated that “I asked this question of the campaign on multiple occasions over the course of a year, and never got an answer, we still don’t have an answer to it, did she regard foundation-related emails as personal or not?” And that the standards by which Clinton and her lawyers decided which emails were personal and which were work-related “have never really been elucidated.”

Heilemann said, “[T]here’s 15,000 of these emails that are now going to be released between now and Election Day. A fundamental question never answered in the course of a year that we’ve dealt with this email controversy, was, among the 30,000-plus emails that Hillary Clinton destroyed, because they were personal, as opposed to the ones she turned over that were work-related, right? The question — and I asked this question of the campaign on multiple occasions over the course of a year, and never got an answer, we still don’t have an answer to it, did she regard foundation-related emails as personal or not? So, if it turns out the answer to that question is yes, there could be a lot of email that’s — that was destroyed, but now may be recovered, among these 15,000 emails, how many of them Foundation-related? If she and her lawyers deemed those to be personal as opposed to work-related, again the standards by which she judged personal versus work have never really been elucidated.”
