Wednesday on WTMJ radio’s “Midday with Charlie Sykes,” when asked about the controversy over the back and forth between Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and the parents of fallen U.S. Army Capt. Humayun Khan, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) said Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump should apologize to the Khans.
The Wisconsin senator who is in a tough reelection fight against former Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) said, “I’ve spoken to a number of Gold Star moms and dads, and they just deserve our utmost respect. What else can you say? I can’t put myself in their position — I can’t imagine losing a child. I can’t imagine that sacrifice. So all you can do is respect it and honor it and that’s all that you should do.”
When asked what Trump should do Johnson added, “He should apologize.”
