On Wednesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Bloomberg Politics Managing Editor Mark Halperin argued that accusations by President Obama and Democratic presidential nominee former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s campaign have made about Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s involvement in the DNC email hack “are going way too far beyond the facts and evidence,” and “if Republicans were making charges like this, the media would be going crazy on them.”
Halperin said, “I think the accusations the president’s making and the Clinton campaign’s making are going way too far beyond the facts and evidence, and they’re trying to distract from the fact that the DNC wrote these emails, and then didn’t have sufficient security. I really think that if Republicans were making charges like this, the media would be going crazy on them.”
Halperin added that it was a strong point for co-host Joe Scarborough to say that Trump has been an “apologist” for Russia, and with “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd that everyone, including Trump should denounce the hack, but that doesn’t allow one to say that there’s evidence that Trump and his campaign colluded with the Russians, which is what he said Democrats are trying to suggest.
