On Monday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “O’Reilly Factor,” columnist Charles Krauthammer stated that connecting Black Lives Matter with the killing of police officers in Baton Rouge and Dallas is “dangerous” and “the wrong thing to do.”
Krauthammer said that race shouldn’t be played with, and Democrats do it, but “we’re better than that, and I don’t think you use this, manipulate this, in order to win an election, because we’re already in a tinderbox. If you can produce evidence that there’s a direct connection between Black Lives Matter and a police shooting, and there might be. I haven’t seen it, particularly not with Dallas, and not with what just happened in Baton Rouge. Then you’ve got case. But to play with this with innuendo, and attribute to a group that is largely made up of young and naive people would be very dangerous. ”
After host Bill O’Reilly pointed to chants at Black Lives Matter calling for dead cops, and a Black Lives Matter missive being found near an attack on an officer Krauthammer responded, “You think a chant at a demonstration in New York is a reason to connect it with the killing of cops in Baton Rouge? I mean, if that is — you want to stir up racial tensions, you can do that. I just think that is the wrong thing to do.”
He added, “Bill, if Black Lives Matter disappeared overnight, and sank into the Atlantic Ocean, it would have no effect whatsoever on whether or not some lunatic is going to grab a gun and kill five cops in Louisiana.”
