Thursday at a hearing on Capital Hill in Washington, D.C., Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said he is concerned about the “possibility of violence” at the upcoming Republican and Democratic National Conventions.
Johnson said, “I am concerned about the prospect of demonstrations getting out of hand. I am concerned about the possibility of violence. We have, within DHS, some 3,000 personnel that will be dedicated to the security of the Republican National Convention and the Democratic National Convention, each.”
The Republican convention is next week, July 18–21, in Cleveland, OH. The Democratic convention is set for July 25-28 in Philadelphia, PA.
