Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Rep. Dave Brat (R-VA) was asked by Bloomberg Politics’ Mark Halperin who he thought would be the best pick for presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump to make for his running mate.
Brat suggested former House Speaker Newt Gingrich as an ideal pick.
“Oh I think Newt,” Brat said. “Politically he’s savvy, he’s forward-looking. Innovation, technology – he’s always ahead of the curve in terms of you know he’s got more books out than anyone up there.”
When asked about any potential downside, Brat suggested it might not help him politically.
“Just the standard political – the states you got to win,” he replied.
When asked if Gingrich had the proper temperament, Brat argued that people were in the mood for “a little extra energy.”
“I think people are in the mood for temperament, a little extra energy right now,” Brat added.
