University of California Santa Barbara advanced to the College World Series Sunday on an improbable finish.
Down 3-0 in the bottom of the ninth inning, UCSB freshman catcher Sam Cohen unloaded on a change-up from Louisville’s Zack Burdi, who was recently drafted 26th overall in the MLB draft by the Chicago White Sox.
Cohen sent the ball just over the right field wall, giving his UC Santa Barbara Gauchos the 4-3 victory, and the school’s first ever trip to the College World Series.
