An Arkansas couple had an unpleasant surprise Thursday while on a trip to the grocery store.
Traveling on Interstate 49, a four-foot-long rat snake fell out of Kelly Swisher’s dashboard and onto her feet, according to a Fox 4 KC report.
“As soon as it landed on my feet, I felt it,” Swisher told. “It was rough and scaly. As it slithered across my feet, it was the nails-on-a-chalk-board kind of thing.”
What happened from there is a blur to Swisher.
“I do not know if I had my hands on the steering wheel or not. I am not the most flexible person in the world, but I can guarantee my knees were up next to my ears.”
Swisher dialed 911 for help, but the snake went behind the dashboard before it could be removed. She got back to driving, hoping the snake would stay behind the dashboard until she could get off the interstate, but it came back out.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office called animal control for assistance, and the snake was eventually caught.
“God had his hand on me. He protected me. He protected my car. That is all there is to that,” Swisher said.
