Friday on CNN’s “The Lead,” while discussing presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s potential Supreme Court and possible vice-presidential picks, Weekly Standard Standard editor Bill Kristol said he observed “Republican elites” that were “rushing” to normalize the Trump nomination.
Kristol said,, “Let’s not kid ourselves, Republican elites, a certain chunk of them, are rushing to sort of normalize the Trump nomination They see he’s doing a little better in the polls. There is a chance he could win. And as some conservative was quoted today as saying ‘It’s all about winning, it’s all about winning and losing.’ Not really Bill Buckley’s conservatism of standing to thwart history and yelling stop. Not Ronald Reagan’s conservatism of trying to stand for principle, but there some conservative Republicans are getting aboard the Trump train.”
