In a clip of an interview CNN’s Anderson Cooper conducted with Gov. John Kasich (R-OH), a former candidate for the Republican nomination, that aired on CNN’s “New Day,” Kasich told Cooper he didn’t know if he would endorse presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.
“I don’t know,” Kasich replied. “I told you about this two paths. If I feel – you know, I read some stuff recently. You know, I’m not glued to this. I’ve read some other stuff that is too negative. I don’t like when he’s attacking or putting people down. You know, learn to take it a little bit.
When asked if he was undecided by Cooper, Kasich said he was and explained how members of his family were part of the calculus of his decision.
“Yeah, I am,” he said. “You know at the end of the day, endorsing is going to mean a lot and frankly, my daughters and my wife have watched this and if I were to turn around today and endorse him, they’d be like, ‘Why dad?’ And that matters to me. We’ll see what he does. He has a chance to move to the positive side and unify this country.”
