Katie Couric: I Say ‘Gun Safety,’ Because People ‘Freak Out’ When They Hear ‘Gun Control’

Yahoo News Global Anchor Katie Couric said that she uses the phrase “gun safety” “because gun control, I think, makes people freak out” on Tuesday’s broadcast of CBS’ “The Late Show.”

After host Stephen Colbert stated that Couric’s documentary “Under the Gun” is “about gun control and the NRA.” Couric said, “Yeah, we try to say, ‘gun safety.’ Yeah, gun safety and gun violence prevention, because gun control, I think, makes people freak out.”
