Chicago Woman Suing Starbucks Over Too Much Ice

Per a WGNTV report, a Chicago woman has decided to sue coffee chain Starbucks for five million dollars over too much ice in its cold beverages.

The suit, filed by Stacy Pincus, states that Starbucks only reaches its advertised fluid ounce by adding ice to the drink.

“Starbucks is advertising the size of its Cold Drink cups on its menu, rather than the amount of fluid a customer will receive when they purchase a Cold Drink — and deceiving its customers in the process,” the suit says.

According to the lawsuit, Starbucks’ Venti cold beverage advertises 24 fluid ounces, but only contains 14 fluid ounces of the actual drink. Ice makes up the rest.

Starbucks is aware of the suit, but believes it to be without merit.

“Our customers understand and expect that ice is an essential component of any ‘iced’ beverage. If a customer is not satisfied with their beverage preparation, we will gladly remake it,” said Jamie Riley, a spokesperson for Starbucks.
