Adam LaRoche on Stepping Away From MLB in Favor of Son: ‘Zero Regrets’

Retired MLB player Adam LaRoche gave an interview with ABC’s T.J. Holmes that aired Tuesday on “Good Morning America.”

LaRoche, 36, recently decided to retire and walk away from a $13 million contract after being told to stop bringing his 14-year-old son Drake into the clubhouse every day by Chicago White Sox management.

White Sox Executive Vice President Ken Williams initially told him to “dial back” the amount of time Drake spends in the clubhouse, only to later tell him to stop altogether, LaRoche told Holmes.

Drake had his own locker in the clubhouse, and the job of cleaning players’ cleats.

While LaRoche said he has “zero regrets” about walking away from his hefty salary of $13 million if he played just one more season, he understands he is walking away from “an absurd amount of money.”
