The Algemeiner reports: Soldiers in the IDF’s new Cyber Defense Division just completed their first drill, involving the simulation of a major security breach at the hands of Israel’s enemies, Israel’s Channel 2 reported on Monday, when the Israeli military released a video of the exercise.
During the exercise, called “Olympus,” the trainees had to respond to challenges such as cyber espionage, booby-trapped websites and network-hacking.
The first of its kind in the IDF, the drill was aimed at examining the command capabilities of the cadets in the sphere of cybernetic defense. Upon completion of their training, these cadets will become the first officers in the new division, and will be charged with combating various cyber-threats simultaneously.
According to Channel 2, the drill took the form of a competition, with cadets divided into teams, racing to deal with several cyber-breaches simultaneously.
