Columnist Pat Buchanan argued that the data on the San Bernardino attacker’s phone should be accessed in “a single-off operation” on Friday’s “McLaughlin Group.”
Buchanan said, “The safety of the people is the highest law. I find myself in uncommon agreement with Eleanor. I think you’ve got to get into that phone to get this and save those people, but in the future, and to secure the safety. However, she’s exactly right, if — you ought to get into a room and get into this phone, and do this a single-off operation, and I can understand the desires for privacy. This is a battle between libertarians and traditionalists, and they’ll split down the middle on this.”
