Brooks: GOP ‘Should Consider’ Obama’s SCOTUS Pick, ‘Constitution Says the President Nominates’

New York Times columnist David Brooks argued Republicans “should consider” President Obama’s Supreme Court pick because “the Constitution says the president nominates” on Friday’s “PBS NewsHour.”

Brooks said, [relevant remarks begin around 11:15] “Well, of course they should consider. I mean, he is president. And the Constitution says the president nominates, and the Constitution is there to put rules around our struggles for power. John Marshall was nominated by John Adams, like, after the election had already happened. And so I think it’s totally fair. And the Republicans are going to probably get away with not doing anything.”
