On the Tuesday broadcast of “The Herd” on Fox Sports 1, radio host Colin Cowherd spoke on the backlash Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has received for walking out on a post-Super Bowl press conference.
Cowherd explained that since Newton is “cocky, tall, and ‘look at me'” that people will not feel as sorry for him after a loss as they would Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, who is “vanilla” and always a “say the right thing” kind of personality, even though Manning did not shake the hands of New Orleans Saints players after the defeated his Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV.
The admitted “left-leaner” then likened that difference to the backlash conservatives receive for saying something that liberals would not receive, despite it being the same thing.
“When a journalist loses their job, go to the Internet. ‘So sad. Oh, my god, another journalist.’ If I lose my job, ‘Oh, he’s a loud mouth!’ I lost my job, you didn’t have any sympathy? Cam Newton, cocky, tall, look at me, celebratory, going to take more heat than Middle America, always say nice stuff about the competition — that’s just the way the game is played. If you watch the media you don’t think they lean left on politics you are not even paying attention. A Conservative can say something and Liberal say the same thing and the Conservative gets bashed for it and I voted for Obama. I’m a left leaner. There’s no question the media leans strong left,” Cowherd said.
