Saturday on MSNBC, CEO and editor of the magazine Foreign Policy David Rothkopf responded to some of the U.S. politicians wanting to block or restrict Syrian refugees entering the country, saying the politicians are “trying to take advantage of the fear in the American people,” and suppressing “natural human impulses” to be hospitable towards the refugees.

“It echoes the Japanese interment camps,” explained Rothkopf. “It echoes this kind of painting with a broad brush of demagogic politicians who trying to take advantage of the fear in the American people, grotesquely exaggerate a threat and suppress natural human impulses to take care of these people.”
