Gamers are finally getting a look at how the PlatinumGames-developed Nier: Automata for Playstation 4 will play.
Revealed at E3 2015, few details have been available for the PS4 exclusive sequel to the 2010 cult hit up to this point. While unfavorably received by critics, Nier developed a strong following among gamers for it’s deep story and characters, wide variety of gameplay, and beautiful musical score.
Nier: Automata is being developed by PlatinumGames, known for fast-paced and heavily stylized action games like Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. That same frenetic combat and slick presentation seems to have translated well to NieR: Automata based on the footage, which was debuted at the Paris Games Week conference.
According to the official Playstation blog, Nier: Automata is set in a world in which “Earth has suddenly been invaded by beings from another planet and mechanical life forms with overwhelming power were used as weapons of war which forced mankind to flee to the moon. In order to take back the earth, a resistance force of android warriors has been created by humanity to fight these invaders.” Players will take on the role of 2B, one of these android warriors, who is described as having a “comparatively cold and level headed personality” to her counterparts.
