AZ Sheriff Babeu: ‘No Chance’ Illegal Immigrants Released From Prison Will Be Deported

Pinal County, AZ Sheriff and Congressional candidate Paul Babeu (R) stated that there’s “no chance” of the roughly 2,000 illegal immigrants who are part of the planned release of 6,000 prisoners will be sent back to their country of origin on Thursday’s “Your World with Neil Cavuto” on the Fox News Channel.

Babeu said, “Well past practice is actually the best indicator of what’s going to happen in the future, and if anybody think that any of these illegals, what they’re saying, they’re promising they’re going to turn them over to ICE and they’re deport them because of their severe criminal records, well, how’s that that worked for us so far? It hasn’t. There’s no chance of them being deported to their country of origin and this just another lie. So, these 6,000 today that are being released, all of them have been in prison on average of nine years. They don’t come out of a federal prison as better, and adding value to our community. So, this total number that they’re looking to free is 46,000. These are 46,000 criminals, making criminals the priority instead of our safety and our citizens.”

He added, “remember the six-page memo that Jeh Johnson, the current Secretary of Homeland Security put out, deferred action, and all of these people will fall under that. These people are not going anywhere, and so what do you think they’re going to be doing when they’re let out of prison, and there is no enforcement of the law. These false promises have been made in the past, and we’re living in the impact. Heck, they’re releasing — they released a murderer, in my county, from Russia. This guy stabbed a guy, poured fuel on him, lit him on fire, tortured him to his death, and they released him in my county and let me know two weeks after they released him. There’s no business that any of these criminals that — we’re talking the small portion of illegals who are here, that are committing these heinous acts, murder, rape, kidnapping, a small portion, they should have no option, they should be deported to their country of origin, never to return again, and the president can’t even do that right.”

After being asked, “You don’t even get a heads up of who’s coming your way, right?” Babeu answered, “Correct. Well, that’s the reality of the situation, and this is not a Democrat-Republican issue. We have 15 elected sheriffs in my state. half of us are republican like me, and the other half are democrats. We stood together in unity, saying that this system is broken, and we pointed out, this isn’t just illegals from Mexico. We had a guy from Sudan, from Iraq, and from Russia, two of them convicted of murder, and they’re not going back to their country. Their only answer to us is, well, they didn’t have proper travel documents to get here, and we can’t prove their citizenship. This is unacceptable. And that’s where the priority is them, with the sentencing reform, and not us, American citizens who are paying for it and then live in the impact and effect of the crimes that occur on our American citizens. And the president should meet with some of these victims, as I have, moms and dads of some of these American citizens who have been killed or murdered, he hasn’t done this once. Why doesn’t he meet with them once, instead of touring these prisons, putting the priority for sentencing reform? Meet with victims, American citizens.”
