After leading his New York Mets to a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers, Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy told MLB reporter Sam Ryan in a postgame interview that the Holy Spirit and Jesus was able to keep him calm in the National League Division Series elimination game as he fell just a triple shy of hitting for the first cycle in a MLB postseason game, finishing 3-4 with a home run and 2 RBI.
“Well, that was the Holy Spirit, that was Jesus. That was the only thing that kept me calm.”
The Mets are set to meet the Chicago Cubs in the National League Championship Series starting on Saturday.
