Representative Daniel Webster (R-FL) stated he will join the race to replace House Speaker Representative John Boehner (R-OH) on Friday’s “Sean Hannity Show.”
Webster was asked if he would seek the office of speaker, to which he answered, “I will.” Webster stated things in the House should be based on “principle, not on power.” He added, “we should have a process by which every member has the opportunity to offer their amendments and go out and get the votes and make them happen.”
Later in the interview, Representative Louie Gohmert (R-TX) said he talked to Representative Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) earlier in the day, and Hensarling said he wasn’t.
Webster added that “people who are in the positions they are will try to move up one slot.” He also stated that House Majority Leader Representative Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), like Boehner, doesn’t have “any other ideas” other than the status quo.
Webster also stated that the House should “work our will” with regards to Planned Parenthood funding, regardless of any threats from the White House.
