Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” House Homeland Security Committee chairman Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) said of President Barack Obama’s plans for the United States to take in Syrian refuges concerned him for fear it could be exploited by terrorists.

He continued, “If I could be assured these people could be vetted properly I would be supportive. the problem is, the FBI testified before my committee, Homeland Security, they all say to me that we don’t have the systems in place on the ground in Syria to properly vet these individuals. We don’t know who they are. I visited one of these camps in Jordan. The minister of security said he didn’t know who these people are. When you have the FBI saying we don’t have the intelligence on the ground to vet these persons properly, that to me, first and foremost, my job is to protect the American people. We’re a compassionate nation. We have to deal with crisis. This could be a very reckless and dangerous policy.”
