Report: MLB Commish Will Not Reinstate Shoeless Joe Jackson

ESPN Radio’s “Mike and Mike” reported on Tuesday that Major League Baseball will not be reinstating former Chicago “Black Sox” player Shoeless Joe Jackson, who many believe took no part in the scandal that saw some members of the 1919 Chicago White Sox purposefully throw the World Series in favor of the Cincinnati Reds.

Jackson, along with seven other members of the team, were all banned from baseball, but sported a lifetime .356 batting average, as well as a .375 with a then-record 12 hits and errorless play in the outfield in the 1919 World Series.

“There are multiple reports out there right now. You probably heard already that major league baseball has made a decision on whether or not it was going to reinstate Shoeless Joe Jackson,” said Mike Greenberg. “Shoeless Joe Jackson been dead since 1951 and there are multiple reports Major League baseball has denied his reinstatement. So, this is 60 years after he is dead; baseball seems to have not reinstated Shoeless Joe again.”
