While reflecting on Hurricane Katrina on MSNBC’s “Up with Steve Kornacki” on Saturday, Arise 360’s Lola Ogunnaike declared that if the “people on the ground in New Orleans would have been white” the response to Hurricane Katrina “would have been different.”
“I remember feeling horrified, sitting in my living room thinking, ‘This is not America. This is not a first-world country. Why is more not being done?’ I also had the immediate feeling that if the people on ground in New Orleans were white, things would have been different. The government would have acted faster.”
