Jets DB Cromartie on NFL Commish: ‘Going to Make His Own Rules as He Goes’

New York Jets star defensive back Antonio Cromartie appeared on ESPN2’s “First Take” on Thursday and spoke about NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who has been under a lot of fire for his handling of Tom Brady and “Deflate-Gate,” as well as his inconsistency of suspensions for players for domestic violence and substance abuse.

Cromartie pointed out Goodell’s inconsistency, saying, “he is going to make his own rules as he goes” and that “it shouldn’t be like that” but he did acknowledge that it is the fault of the players for allowing Goodell to have that type of power.

“Nobody is safe. No matter what you are. Roger is going to do what he wants to do. It doesn’t matter what the rules say, he’s going to make his own rules as he goes. It shouldn’t be like that but at the end of the day we as players gave him the freedom to do whatever he wanted to do. We signed the [Collective Bargaining Agreement]. So we are at our own fault for doing it.”
