During “Fox Sports Live” analysts Clay Travis and Petros Papadakis discussed changing the College Football Playoff from four teams to 64 teams, which was brought up by Washington State University head coach Mike Leach.
Papadakis, a former runningback at the University of Southern California, explained that a 64-team playoff would “exploitive” of the student-athletes and with a 64 team playoff, the athletes playing college football might as well not be considered students.
“I love Leach and I love his ideas and I think he’s great for football. This is a terrible idea. It’s more exploitive of the student athletes in what’s already a deeply contradictory sport. We can’t do it.”
Travis then explained how if seasons were cut to only nine games and they were only conference games that the money would be the same at the end because teams would end up playing the same amount of games as normal if they made it deep in the tournament.
