White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest accused Republicans of trying to “play some politics with some selectively edited videos” in their push to defund Planned Parenthood at Thursday’s White House Press Briefing.
Earnest was asked if the president would veto any bill to defund Planned Parenthood, he stated that while there isn’t a “blanket principle” for the White House on Planned Parenthood funding, “there has been an effort, on the part of some Republicans, to try to play some politics with some selectively edited videos. This is a tactic that we have seen used before. The president obviously does not support that ongoing effort.”
Earnest added, when asked if the president would veto any legislation to defund Planned Parenthood, “Well, again, it’s apparent that Republicans are just getting started in that effort. But — and that is an effort that we oppose.”
