Tuesday at the Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearing on immigration enforcement, Jim Steinle the father of Kathryn Steinle, who was fatally shot in broad daylight while walking on a pier in San Francisco allegedly by Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, an illegal immigrant and multiple felon, who had been deported five times, testified about his daughters murder.
Jim Steinle, whose 32-year-old daughter died in his arms said, “Suddenly a shot rang out. Kate fell, looked at me and said help me dad.”
He added, “We fell strongly that some legislation should be discussed, enacted or changed to take these undocumented immigrant felons off our streets for good. We would be proud to have Kate’s name associated with some of this new legislation. If Kate’s Law saves one daughter, one son, a mother, a father, Kate’s death won’t be in vain.”
