Smerconish Asks Catholic League Pres If Gay Teacher Was Fired Due To Fear She’d Teach Kids to Be Gay

Catholic League President Bill Donohue was asked by CNN’s “Smerconish” host Michael Smerconish if he was afraid that, Margie Winters, who was the director of religious instruction at Waldron Mercy Academy, before she was fired after two parents found out she was married to a woman, was going to “teach the kids to be a lesbian?”

Donohue maintained that if you join a private, voluntary organization, you have to follow their rules, and that if he joined a vegetarian group and became an officer, he would be fired if he advocated eating meat. Smerconish wondered whether Donohue would endorse firing a vegan cook who made good burgers, and whether the most important point was really Winters’ competence and whether her homosexuality impacted her teaching. He then asked, “Are you worried she’s going to teach the kids to be a lesbian?”
