GOP presidential candidate and former Texas governor Rick Perry spoke with John Catsimatidis on Sunday on his AM 970 New York radio show “The Cats Roundtable” about border patrol, which has been an issue he has long battled in his home state.
Perry explained that President Barack Obama’s Justice Department has done “absolutely nothing” to prevent incidents such as the recent murder of Kate Steinle in San Francisco by an illegal immigrant.
“There are over 200 sanctuary cities and counties in this country, and the U.S. Department of Justice has done absolutely nothing – nothing! – to prevent this. They should have been using the legal ability sanctioning these cities, sanctioning these counties, denying federal funding. It’s dangerous. It’s got to stop. We should pull the federal funding on these cities and counties that are promoting sanctuary policies.”
Perry later ripped into the president, saying he is “is more interested in negotiating with the Castro brothers and with the Ayatollah in Tehran than he is in taking care of American citizens.”
