Thursday on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) discussed his legislation that would block sanctuary cities from receiving federal law enforcement grants.
Cotton said, “Too many families have faced this kind of tragedy. Crime at the hands of hardened criminals, also illegal immigrants. My legislation would say simply, if a city’s politicians refused to allow their law enforcement officials to cooperate with federal immigration authorities, they should not receive federal law enforcement or immigration grans. Taxpayers should not be subsidizing such lawless activities that puts public safety at risk.”
“Whether we have a vote on the current bill, I continue to offer it and I hope to bring it up on its own,” he added. “Wherever you stand on immigration, we shouldn’t let hardened criminals stay in this country illegally.”
