On Sunday’s “Face the Nation” on CBS, Gov. John Kasich (R-OH), who is expected to announce his running for the 2016 GOP primary candidacy in July, reacted to the Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage last week by saying “everybody needs to take a deep breath.”
Kasich advised everyone to see how everything evolves, but he also stated that religious entities should also be honored and that he thinks that there can be a balance between the two sides.
“I think we need to take a deep breath. Look, I believe in traditional marriage, but the Supreme Court has ruled, and it’s the law of the land, and we’ll abide by it. And I think everybody needs to take a deep breath to see how this evolves. But I know this, I mean, religious institutions; religious entities, you know, like the Catholic church, they need to be honored, as well, and I think there’s an ability to strike a balance.”
