WH Spox on Fall of Ramadi: ‘Are We Going to Light Our Hair on Fire’ for Every Setback?

Tuesday at the White House press briefing, CBS White House correspondent Bill Plante asked if downplaying the fall of Ramadi as a temporary setback was “silly” because now that “Iraqi troops have cut and run,” and “there is no real prospect for improvement.”

White House press secretary Josh Earnest replied they can not light their hair on fire over every setback.

Earnest said, “I guess the thing is we have to sort of decide what our approach to these issues is going to be. Are we going to light our hair on fire every time there is a setback in the campaign against ISIS? Or are we going to take very seriously our responsibility to evaluate those areas where we succeed, and evaluate where steps are necessary for us to change our strategy where we have sustained setbacks?”
