During Tuesday’s “Highly Questionable” on ESPN, co-host Dan Le Batard reacted to the New England Patriots being punished by the NFL for the deflation of game-used footballs, saying that the NFL has no integrity. Le Batard previously called out the NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell for how it handled the suspensions of Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Greg Hardy and former Baltimore Ravens runningback Ray Rice.
The Patriots were slapped with NFL’s highest ever fine of $1 million, loss of 2016 first round draft pick, loss of 2017 fourth round draft pick and star quarterback Tom Brady will have to miss the first four games of the season.
Le Batard argued that the NFL no longer has integrity and because it has no integrity, it is over-punishing in order to protect its integrity.
“If you answer that question, ‘Yes or no, does the NFL have integrity?’ The answer is no, but they wrapped this in integrity. What do you have to do when you don’t have integrity? You over-punish in the protection of integrity you don’t have.”
