Tuesday on the Senate floor, Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) addressed the charges against police officers in the death of Freddie Gray in Baltimore.
He said, “There is no epidemic of police criminality in this country.”
“It’s true that there are real and horrible cases of police misconduct, but let’s keep this in perspective,” he continued. “There are bad actors in every profession, in every line of work, in every walk of life and that’s true of police as well. But if you listen to many of the police critics we hear from today, you’d think there is some sort of epidemic of crimes perpetrated by police. And that, I assure you, is not true.”
